Brazil in pictures: the marco of the discovery

It all began here. In the Cidade Alta of Porto Seguro you will find the marco do Descobrimento, a stone brought from Portugal at the beginning of the XVI century. Its mission was to affirm Portuguese sovereignty over the place where the stone was placed. Porto Seguro had been, after all, the entry point for the Portuguese discoverers of Brazil. One side of the stone has the cross of the Avis Order carved; on the other side you will find the coat of arms of Portugal.

Such nice pictures! I think Brazil is the best place to travel. Brazil is more than beaches and Carnival, but that would be enough reason to travel there. Brazil is the largest country in South America. The nation’s natural beauty is reflected in its variety of geographic locations, from Sugar Loaf Mountain in the city of Rio de Janeiro, to the magnificent Iguazu Falls in the south, to the Amazon basin in the North, there’s something for almost every taste… snow skiers excepted.
