Tanabata Matsuri 2008 in São Paulo

The traditional Tanabata Matsuri Japanese festival takes places on the 12th and 13rd of July (Saturday and Sunday) on the oriental district of Liberdade, in São Paulo.

Tanabata Matsuri

We attended the festival last year and wrote a blog entry about the event. To us, the Tanabata is when the Liberdade looks at its best. Chances are the district will be crowded all throughout the weekend, but we absolutely recommend it. If you happen to be in São Paulo this coming weekend, don’t miss it!

Sarah, not many foreigners are aware of the existence of really interesting Japanese festivals in São Paulo! Thanks a lot for mentioning the Brazil Travel Blog on your blog! All the best!
