carnival 2009: dates

According to the official calendar, the 2009 carnival will take place between 20 and 24 February.
Although the dates seem miles away, the farsighted travellers have already made accommodation arrangements for the period – it is the only way of finding good value accommodation for places like Rio or Salvador.
The two days of parades of the samba schools in Rio will be 22 Sunday and 23 Monday. The winning escolas de samba will parade again on 28 February.
As more details emerge I will keep you posted.

I have no specific recommendations to make, but you should book well in advance, they will be fully booked for sure.

well there is a place that me and my girlfriend are thinking about..
it’s called samba villa and it’s located in lapa…do you know it?
the thing is, they ask for 50% payment in advance to be deposited in
their bank account..
i have no way of knowing how authentic this deal is..
do you have any suggestions?

I don’t know the place (it would help if you gave me some details, like its webpage) so I can’t advice you on this. If you are paying a deposit, make sure it is with a reliable business. It should have its own website, with a full contact address and name of the company.
