To make up for the absence on this blog of a specific post devoted to João Pessoa, I am publishing a blog entry with links to sites of interest.
Information on the capital of the state of Paraíba is hard to find. The official website Secretaria de Turismo de João Pessoa does not contain a great deal of practical information. Bom Guia, a portal covering the whole of the stage, has a contrived design. And João Pessoa Turismo cannot be viewed correctly using Firefox. João Pessoa will need quite a lot of hard work if it ever wants to attract a substantial amount of foreign visitors to the state.
A group of individuals shared the same thought and created Paraiba Paradise, the best source we know on all things related to João Pessoa. Shame on the authorities and congratulations to them.
You have hit the nail on the head. Several years ago a few of us were trying to find upto date information about Joao Pessoa and it was nigh impossible so we decided to open a post on http://www.gringoes.com
That went crazy with hits in a very short space of time.
“Joao Pessoa really needs a website”, thinks we and Paraiba Paradise was born or http://www.paraibaparadise.com
True to form the site received 100s of thousands of hits with a few months.
It is soley dedicated to Joao Pessoa with information for settlers and visitors. It is updated every day and has the most comprehensive whats on guide you can find. There is a forum too and soon there will be an association for the members. Our get togethers bring together 100s of people.
It is a true labour of love that has been embraced by the prefeitura.
I hope you log on to see what all the fuss is about. If a website can do it differently, its this one.

Several months on and several million hits later, it was decided to completely refurbish the old site which was never meant for this sort of traffic. The new site, which goes on line at the end of June 2009 is actually twice the size with several different search facilities.
The Forum remains the same as do the jokes:( People familiar with the red, white and black colour scheme (JP colours) will also notice a change as we have gone for a much brighter image.
The whats on part of the site has been disabled to coincide with the launch of the new site. We have also been able to focus more on what people want rather than what we thought they wanted (easier said than done)
Coming to Joao Pessoa, then take a look at our site.
Thanks for the news, Anthony. A tad of reciprocity would be quite nice and it would allow your interventions here to go beyond pure self-promotion (I’m allowing it as I think you have something valuable to give to my readers).

Thanks Anthony, I’ve added your site to the info mentioned on the entry. Your effort shouldn’t go unnoticed.
