Work has started on the construction of a new passenger terminal at the port of Salvador de Bahía. It is expected the new terminal will be ready on 13 May 2013, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the port. Work at the port is part of the investment on infrastructure associated with the coming World Cup.
Passengers arriving on cruise ships to Salvador will benefit from modern facilities currently non-existent. The existing terminal where boats and catamarans to Morro de São Paulo operate will also be incorporated into the new facilities.
