From mid-December Brazilian airline Gol will fly from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to Miami and Orlando in the United States.
All the flights will land in the Dominican Republic. Santo Domingo’s airport will act as a scissor hub, where passengers coming from Rio and São Paulo will will be redistributed to the outgoing flights to Miami and Orlando – and viceversa.
The new flights depart from Brazil shortly after midnight and arrive back in the country shortly after midnight too. The reality of two long international flights in Gol’s cramped and spartan seats will make more that one shiver. For both reasons Gol’s fares will have to be extremely competitive fare-wise for the new flights to be a success.
