The Brazilian tourism authorities recently launched the website Brasil 360° Experience, with versions in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

While most travelers are familiar with panoramic and 360° photos, 360° videos will be a novelty for many. As the image moves, the viewer can change the angle of vision and point the camera in whichever direction he chooses. It is a technology that produces surprising and fascinating results. Brasil 360° Experience aims at surprising the views with moving images of a handful of Brazilian tourist destinations.

The website contains videos of Rio de Janeiro, Cuiabá and the Pantanal, Curitiba and Foz de Iguazú, Manaos and the Amazon and Salvador de Bahía.

The page contains a link “Know more about…” that takes the reader to the Brazilian Tourism Portal, a true liability for the promotion of Brazil as a tourist destination. At the portal, when the tourist tries to find out more information about, say, tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro, he or she will find the following screen:

Worry not. If you want more info on the destinations covered by the new website, you can check our very own entries for those destinations:

Copyright © 2010 Tony Gálvez. Read the original at http://www.braziltravelblog.com/2011/08/22/the-weather-in-google-maps-for-brazil-and-the-rest-of-the-world/.
If you’ve been reading us for a while you’re probably aware by now that we are big fans of Google Maps and its use to support travel planning (we talked about it at GoogleMaps on the Brazil Travel Blog).

Google has just added a new weather layer to its Google Maps (you can read the official announcement at Rain or Shine, see the weather on Google Maps).

If you enter Google Maps and go to the widget on the top right corner where you select the different view modes (Map, Earth, Traffic, Photos and so on) you will see there is a new layer called “Weather”. If you select it, you will see weather-related symbols appearing on your map. We’ll be using Rio de Janeiro as our example:

If you click on the symbol next to Rio (sun and cloud) you will see a pop up window with the forecast for the coming days (as my settings for the Google Apps are in Spanish I’m seeing the info in Spanish, you will see it in English).

If you click on 10 days you will get yet more weather information.

If you find this text at a location other than the Brazil Travel Blog it is an unauthorized use of the blog material.

The <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/mpl?moduleurl=http://www.bluemoon.ee/~ahti/touristiness-map/touristiness-map.xml"target=" blank">World touristiness map is a map project that analyzed the number of Panoramio photos for every spot on the world and turned the density of photos into colour shades. Yellow shows where the highest concentration of photos is, red highlights a medium concentration and blue a low concentration. Areas in grey have no photos available.

On the global map the standing fact is the central role of Europe. On the South American continent, a high concentration of photos can be guessed in the south east region of Brazil.

When you look closer at the map of Brazil you confirm the high concentration of photos for the south east region (mainly Rio and São Paulo) and also along most of the country’s coast. No surprises when you realize most of the Amazon region is unphotographed.

If you are after an undiscovered destination, you might as well search for it using this map!

If you find this text at a location other than the Brazil Travel Blog it is an unauthorized use of the blog material.

Even if you are not an American citizen, the US government’s CDC website should be your starting point for any consultation on health issues related to your upcoming trip to Brazil. You will find the information under the section <a href="http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/brazil.aspx"target=" blank">Health Information for Brazil.

It contains thorough, reliable and up-to-date information on all health issues, including a section on vaccines and another section on items you might want to bring with you on your trip.

Whenever a new fact emerges the CDC releases a travel notice. On the last few days there have been notices on yellow fever, dengue, H1N1 flu and measles.

<a href="http://www.linhasrodoviarias.com.br/home.asp"target=" blank">Linhas rodoviárias is a new website with information on travel routes around Brazil. It is quite easy to use. For the time being, it only contains information on both domestic and international routes departing from São Paulo.

Busque seu destino! is your search window. ORIGEM (origin) has São Paulo selected as a default (you can’t change it). At DESTINO (destination) you have to select the state or country you are travelling to and at CIDADE (city, town) the name of your destination.

The interesting thing about this website is that the search results shows not only the details of the company or companies (empresa) travelling the route. You will also find the schedules (horários de embarque), fares (preço da passagem), duration of the trip (tempo de viagem), distance (distância em kilómetros), number of stops (previsão de paradas) and the number of the ticket office (guichê de venda) at the bus station where you will be able to purchase tickets.

We take the system is fed manually with all the data coming from multiple sources. We don’t know how often the information is updated. For that reason, we encourage you to use this website as a starting point on your research. But double-check any information with the bus company you will be travelling with.

We hope new departure cities will be fed into the system soon. When that happens we’ll promptly let you know here.

Our main blog entry on bus travel in Brazil is bus transportation in Brazil.
